With our Pole Portraits with Insominiac Studios in mind, I am offering this posing workshop specifically geared toward photo shoots on Pole. This workshop is open to all pole dancers, whether you are signed up for the portrait sessions or not, though we do have spots available for that as well!

Pole shoots can be much more challenging than some may expect. In this workshop i will share with you some general tips for posing on pole and also help you find the best shapes and angles for you as an individual.

I suggest thinking it over and making a list of tricks you would hope to be photographed in. Think of the things you are strongest and most comfortable with, the things you can hold confidently for at least a few seconds, and the things you can maintain a relaxed face or smile with. Remember this is the time to use those beautiful shapes you just can’t seem to find the perfect transition for.

Bring any costume pieces you would like to wear and any ideas you may have for your specific vision.

Bio

Marlo teaches workshops and certifications all over the world, full-time; she draws on 25 years of dance and 15 years of teaching to create unique, high-energy class experiences. She is known for her detailed eye for alignment and movement quality, but is better known for her fantastic playlists and her desire to inspire playful movement in people of all ages.

She has presented at fitness conventions such as ECA, IDEA, The South Beach International Festival, and Festival de Fitness in Rome. She is certified many times over (ACE, AFAA, NSCA, Kane school), and is a graduate of Leslie Kaminoff’s Anatomy of Yoga Advanced Study course. Marlo also holds a degree in Anthropology from the University of Miami because she believes that, “Understanding what it means to be human is grounding, and incredibly important.” Plus, she loves spending time around other primates, since she too has very long arms.

Between planes, trains, buses, poles, floors, stages and studios, she splits her time in New York City (where her apparel line is manufactured) and Boulder, Colorado (where she hangs with her love, drinks kombucha, and experiences nature). She loves walking everywhere in minimalistic shoes, (which is great, because she let her driver’s license expire after living in New York for 10 years), crafting reasons to wear costumes and fostering creativity.
