Here’s the thing about Acrobatic Pole. It uses momentum and commitment to make things happen. It’s fancy, and often scary, but the truth is that with the right progressions, many moves become easy and safer than you’d think. Contained within this workshop are the flashy moves made simple. These are the crowd pleasers, the dramatic poses, the wow factors. And the best part? This is the actually the stuff that gives you the time to breathe. This is an intermediate level and up workshop.

She is known for her detailed eye for alignment and movement quality, but is better known for her fantastic playlists and her desire to inspire playful movement in people of all ages.

She has presented at fitness conventions such as ECA, IDEA, The South Beach International Festival, and Festival de Fitness in Rome. She is certified many times over (ACE, AFAA, NSCA, Kane school), and is a graduate of Leslie Kaminoff’s Anatomy of Yoga Advanced Study course. Between planes, trains, buses, poles, floors, stages and studios, she splits her time in New York City (where her apparel line is manufactured) and Boulder, Colorado (where she hangs with her love, drinks kombucha, and experiences nature). She loves walking everywhere in minimalistic shoes, (which is great, because she let her driver’s license expire after living in New York for 10 years), crafting reasons to wear costumes and fostering creativity.

Thursday, March 10, 2016, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm, $75
All Levels

Humans have been telling stories for centuries to keep present what they held most interesting, mysterious, or precious to them. It is in our nature to dramatize and enhance fact or fiction for memory’s sake; pole is no different. The next 3 hours will be devoted to exploring drama, comedy, and story presentation through movement, building key elements to develop presence, with students ultimately developing and presenting a short aerial/ground based story. Character preparation, tonal expression, mood setting, and thought building will be some of the topics discussed and explored through worksheets and partner exercises. This class is recommended for performers and those who want to develop their artistic vision on any apparatus

The Power Spirit : A Sovereign State Movement Trip

Wednesday, March 9, 2016, 7:15 pm – 9:15 pm, $45
All Levels

“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” – Mahatma Gandhi

It has been said that true power comes from within, but WHERE exactly is this place and how does one access it for pole work? The next 2 hours will help one define sources of power, fresh movement, and honest performance commitment waiting within their own psyche. This workshop will blend energetic meditation, sports psychology, with intricate floor work sections into a super-power soup that will inspire, encourage, and support each participant. Sections of movement work and meditation are by inspired by and based upon Leandro Silva and his very own dance method, the “Silva Technique”, as well as the Japanese art of Butoh. These sequences will foster and build each student’s capability to connect to floor work in a more fulfilling, dominant, and captivating way. Pole work will be an extension of surface travel movement (i.e., jumps, leaps, flips, etc). No pole dancing experience required but knowledge is considered helpful. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing or bring any items that evoke a sense of bad-ass attitude, rebellion, and/or inner strength. This IS a beginner/intermediate level class although the ability to execute a floor based invert (headstand, handstand, cartwheel, etc) with CONTROL would be helpful. Level can be adjusted for more advanced student knowledge base.
